तुर्की-सीरिया की सीमा पर भयानक विनाशकारी भूकंप के बाद पूरी दुनिया सांस रोक कर बचाव कार्यों की प्रगति पर ध्यान से नजर रख रही है।
6 फरवरी की सुबह को 7.8 तीव्रता के भूकंप ने तुर्की और आसपास के देशों को हिला दिया, इसके बाद थोड़ा कम 7.5 तीव्रता का भूकंप और दर्जनों आफ्टरशॉक्स आए। इन के नतीजे में हाल ही में प्रदान की गई औपचारिक आंकड़ों के अनुसार तुर्की में 36,187 लोग मारे गये हैं।
कुछ झटके दमिश्क, लताकिया और सीरिया के कई अन्य प्रांतों में महसूस किए गए, इराक में भी रिपोर्ट किए गए, और यहां तक कि वे जॉर्जिया तक भी पहुंचे।
