चक्रवात मोका ने म्यांमार के तट को किया तबाह, छह की मौत और सैकड़ों घायल

बंगाल की खाड़ी के ऊपर बना एक कम दबाव का क्षेत्र चक्रवात मोका में बदल गया, जिसने म्यांमार में भारी तबाही मचाई है। इससे पहले म्यांमार और बांग्लादेश के अधिकारियों ने हजारों लोगों को सुरक्षित स्थान पर पहुँचाया था।
शक्तिशाली चक्रवात से सैकड़ों लोगों के घायल होने और संपर्क कट जाने के बाद पश्चिमी म्यांमार के तट पर 12 फीट गहरे समुद्री जल में फंसे करीब 1,000 लोगों को बचावकर्मियों ने निकाला है। वहीं छह मौतों की सूचना मिली है, स्थानीय मीडिया ने कहा।
सितवे में रखाइन यूथ्स फिलैंथ्रोपिक एसोसिएशन के एक नेता के अनुसार "तेज हवाओं ने लगभग 20,000 लोगों में से 700 से अधिक को घायल कर दिया, जो मठों, पैगोडा और स्कूलों जैसे सितवे टाउनशिप के ऊंचे इलाकों में मजबूत इमारतों में शरण लिए हुए थे।"
इस बीच जलवायु वैज्ञानिकों का कहना है कि चक्रवात अब अपनी तेजी को कई दिनों तक बनाए रख सकता है।
बता दें कि चक्रवात मोका की तरह, प्रत्येक उष्णकटिबंधीय चक्रवात को एक नाम दिया जाता है जो इसकी पहचान में मदद करता है और चेतावनी जारी करना और चक्रवात के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा करना आसान बनाता है।
गौरतलब है कि उष्णकटिबंधीय चक्रवात, जिन्हें अन्य क्षेत्रों में हरिकेन या तूफान कहा जाता है, दुनिया की सबसे विनाशकारी प्राकृतिक आपदाओं में से एक हैं जब वे घनी आबादी वाले तटीय क्षेत्रों से टकराते हैं।
