संयुक्त राष्ट्र की रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि ग्लोबल वॉर्मिंग की समस्या और बढ़ने वाली है। जिसके परिणामस्वरूप जिन क्षेत्रों में पानी की कमी है, उन इलाकों में पानी की संकट और अधिक बढ़ जाएगा।
पानी की अत्यधिक खपत और जलवायु परिवर्तन ने दुनिया भर में पानी की गंभीर कमी को जन्म दिया है जो "स्थानिक" बन गया है, संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने एक रिपोर्ट में चेतावनी दी है।
रिपोर्ट के अनुसार दो अरब लोगों के पास सुरक्षित पेयजल तक पहुंच नहीं है और 3.6 अरब लोगों की स्वच्छता तक पहुंच नहीं है। यह एक वैश्विक संकट का "आसन्न जोखिम" पैदा कर रहा है। ग्लोबल वार्मिंग प्रचुर मात्रा में पानी वाले क्षेत्रों के साथ-साथ उन क्षेत्रों में पानी की कमी को और बढ़ा देगा जो पहले से ही संकटग्रस्त हैं।
"दुनिया आँख बंद करके एक खतरनाक रास्ते पर चल रही है क्योंकि अस्थिर जल उपयोग, प्रदूषण और अनियंत्रित ग्लोबल वार्मिंग मानवता के जीवन रक्त को बहा रही है," रिपोर्ट की प्रस्तावना में संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव एंटोनियो गुटेरेस ने लिखा है।
रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, बीते 40 सालों में विश्व स्तर पर हर साल लगभग एक प्रतिशत की दर से पानी का उपयोग बढ़ रहा है। जनसंख्या वृद्धि, सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास और पानी की खपत के पैटर्न में परिवर्तन की वजह से साल 2050 तक इसी दर से बढ़ने की उम्मीद है।
बता दें कि 50 वर्ष के इतिहास में पहली बार साल 2023 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र की ओर से जल सम्मेलन का आयोजन होगा, जो 22 से 24 मार्च तक आयोजित किया जाएगा। इसमें दुनियाभर के 6500 से ज्यादा विशेषज्ञ और अतिथि भाग लेंगे। अलग-अलग देशों के राष्ट्राध्यक्ष और मंत्री भी इस सम्मेलन में शामिल होंगे।
